Professional Identity of Physical Education Teachers : What Does It Consist Of?

PURPOSE Professional Identity Formation (PIF) has become a core concept in various professional education fields as it emphasizes professionals’ dispositions well abilities. This study provides an overview of PIF and explores the characteristics programs that highlight PIF. Through this overview, purpose is to propose ‘Professional Matrix for Physical Education Teacher (PIMPET)’, which helps identify PE teachers’ (PI).METHODS suggests guideline understand teachers' PI based on analysis current literature PIF.RESULTS The PIF-based were described according three criteria: teaching content, method, assessment. On PIMPET framework, components formed by teachers can be categorized into nine domains encompass identity dimensions (competence, knowledge, disposition) task areas (teaching, student, administration).CONCLUSIONS framework allows comprehensive understanding implications professionalism teacher education.
